Aaron Finch happy with interim coach Andrew McDonald’s approach

Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch is pleased with caretaker coach Andrew McDonald’s calm and aloof approach. He further said that this approach by the former cricketer will keep the team in good shape. McDonald recently took over as Australia’s caretaker manager after Justin Langer stepped down, Langer was unhappy with Cricket Australia’s (CA) offer of a six-month contract extension.

Australian newspaper reports suggested that cricketers and support staff had expressed discontent with Langer.

Finch, who has partnered with McDonald’s for Victoria and the Melbourne Renegades Big Bash League (BBL) team. He said on Friday that the Australian team is preparing for a month-long tour of Pakistan.

He told Sen Radio: “It’s been really good. It’s always very calm and powerful. It’s very well planned and organized from that side. Finch played his first ICC event in the UAE at the end of last year. Guided the T20 World Cup title team.

McDonald has played four tests for Australia and coached Victoria and Renegades to the Sheffield Shield and Big Bash titles respectively.

Finch said not much has changed in terms of coaching, as McDonald’s relationship with the players was the same as when he was assistant to head coach Langer.

Finch thanked Langer for his contribution over the last four years and said it was time for a change in the Australian training system.
