Aamir Khan is back in the spotlight with his latest film, Sitare Zameen Par. But this time, it’s not just the movie that’s making headlines – it’s the controversy surrounding it. The film’s trailer release has sparked a backlash on social media, with some users calling for a boycott.
The Boycott Backlash
The boycott demands seem to be centered around Aamir Khan’s perceived silence on India-Pakistan tensions. Many social media users are criticizing him for not speaking out against Pakistan. One Twitter user wrote, “Amir khan didn’t post on the pahalgam attack so it’s time After successful Boycott Turkey Tourism….. it time to Boycott Amir Khan’s new upcoming Movie ‘Sitare Zameen Par.'”
Aamir Khan Productions recently changed their social media display pictures on Instagram, X, and Facebook. They replaced their official logo with the Indian tricolor and added the phrase “Yeh alag andaaz hai” (This is a different style) to their bios. Many are seeing this move as damage control.
Aamir Khan’s Response
After the Indian armed forces launched “Operation Sindoor” in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack, Aamir Khan Productions posted a message on social media. They wrote, “Salute to the heroes of Operation Sindoor. We thank our armed forces for their courage, bravery, and unwavering commitment to our country’s security. Thank you, honorable Prime Minister, for your leadership and determination. Jai Hind.”
However, many social media users saw this post as a publicity stunt. One Twitter user responded, “Aamir Khan Productions (@AKPPL_Official) posted a picture with the caption.”
India-Pakistan Tensions
The controversy surrounding Sitare Zameen Par is linked to the recent tensions between India and Pakistan. The Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 people, sparked a wave of outrage and prompted the Indian armed forces to launch a counter-attack against terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This operation was dubbed “Operation Sindoor.”
