Aamir Khan Urges More Theatres in India at Waves Summit 2025

Aamir Khan believes India needs to invest more in theaters. Speaking at Waves Summit 2025, he said India’s film-loving population lacks access to cinemas.

Need for More Theaters

Aamir Khan emphasized the need for diverse theaters across India. He noted that many districts and large areas lack a single theater. “We’ve faced challenges due to limited screens,” he said. “Investing in more screens is essential. India has vast potential, but it can only be realized with more screens nationwide.”

Comparison with Other Countries

Aamir Khan highlighted India’s lag behind the US and China in cinema screens. “We have around 10,000 screens,” he said. “The US, with one-third of India’s population, has 40,000 screens. China has 90,000 screens.” He stressed that India’s large population and capacity warrant more theaters.

Many areas in India still lack cinema access. Expanding theaters could help tap the country’s film potential.
