The first of the tests is the II Digital Nautical Trophy, the competition that inaugurates the extensive sailing calendar of this year, so important for this Biscayan Club, which was born in 1898 with the unforgettable Sporting raft, a pioneer in the sport of sailing. The first championship of the year begins this Saturday, January 7, in the waters of the Abra, with the departure for the J80 monodesigns at 11:00 a.m. and for the cruisers at 12:00 p.m. The first winners in the list of winners of this Digital Nautical Trophy were the Fhimasa Escuela de Vela José Luis de Ugarte by Nicolás Viar among the J80 class monodesigns; Alfonso Churruca’s Alpega in the Regatta class; the Kribi by Juan Manuel Pereiro in Crucero I; and the Kohen of Juan Carlos Estefanía in Crucero II.

The II Digital Nautical Trophy It will consist of four days since it will also take place on January 21; and on February 4 and 18. This first race of the calendar will be followed later by the Astobiza Trophy, the participatory XXXVIII Regata a la Inversa-BBVA, the IV EKP International Women’s Sailing Cup or the Euskadi Championship, the latter two of the J80 class, like the Spanish Championship of this division from June 15 to 18. In addition to the II Engels & Volkers Trophy, other important events will arrive in June and July, such as the XVIII Surne Regatta-58º Eskarra Trophy, the XXXVIII Lurauto Cruise Bizkaia Championship, the XXXII EKP Basque Coast Regatta-Golden Whale Trophy and the Gypsy Cup, or already in August the Getxo-Gijón-La Coruña Regatta. Starting in September it is the turn of the traditional Castro Cup, the X El Correo Trophy, the Red Cross Social Trophy or the massive and festive Hyundai-Hyunbisa Rooster Regatta, the event that closes a full calendar each year. This time, with the 125th anniversary always present in each competition. In light sailing, in addition to classics such as the José Luis Azqueta or José Luis de Ugarte Trophy, the Real Club Marítimo del Abra-Real Sporting Club will organize the ILCA Spain Cup 6 in April and the Spanish Junior and Absolute Snipe Championship at the end of August and early September.
