An explosion involving a car attempting to enter the United States today has forced the closure of the Rainbow Bridge over the Niagara River in Buffalo, New York, connecting the United States and Canada. The driver’s intentions are currently unknown. of the vehicle or whether the explosion was provoked or accidental. The FBI is investigating the explosion at the Canada-US border crossing.
““I have been informed of the situation at the Rainbow Bridge in Buffalo.”wrote New York Governor Kathy Hochul, also noting that state police are actively working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force to monitor all points of entry into New York.
All bridge crossings from Western New York into the United States were also closed, the Erie County Executive reported. The vehicle was traveling from Canada to the United States, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office confirms. Several emergency vehicles have arrived at the entrance to the bridge and federal authorities are investigating what happened.
