A senior Hezbollah military commander was killed in an Israeli strike in Lebanon

A senior military official from the Shiite Hezbollah party militia died this Monday in an Israeli army bomb attack on a vehicle in southern Lebanon, while clashes on the border flared up again after last week's death of the “number two” of the political arm of the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas), Salé al Aruri, in an attack on Beirut blamed on Israel.

According to sources from the Lebanese television channel LBCI, the attack targeted a car in the area of Jirbet Selm, about ten kilometers from the border with Israel.

Likewise, sources from the Al-Yadid network have stated that the deceased is Uisam al Tauil, who is believed to be a member of the Raduán Force, an elite unit of Hezbollah, which has not commented on the attack at the moment or whether he left victims behind.

Hours earlier, the Israeli army had confirmed a bombing of a party militia “military complex” in southern Lebanon as well as other “terrorist infrastructure”, while Hezbollah claimed to have carried out various attacks with projectiles against targets in northern Israel.

Iran-backed Hezbollah has carried out dozens of drone and projectile attacks against northern Israel since Hamas' attacks on Israeli territory on October 7, a situation that raises fears of the conflict spreading to neighboring Lebanon and even the entire region.

Tensions have risen in recent days following the deaths of Al Aruri and six other Hamas members, including two senior officials from the group's armed wing, the Ezzeldin al-Qassam Brigades, in a bomb attack in Beirut. The Lebanese government has called on the United Nations to condemn the event and take “decisive action” in the face of Israel’s “aggressions.”
