A Russian military blogger who revealed heavy losses for his country in Avdivka dies in strange circumstances

The blogger, who was also a combatant, said his superiors forced him to delete a publication that, according to various media outlets, referred to the “irreversible” Russian casualties in Avdivka, which Mürz said exceeded 16,000 and about 300 vehicles. Armored vehicles were destroyed, while the Ukrainian army, according to its calculations, lost at most a third of these losses, “in the best case” between 5,000 and 7,000 fighters.

According to the blogger, his commanders were put under pressure by Russian propagandists who began to harass “Murz”. “My enemies do not come at me hand in hand, they attack me with other people’s hands,” he wrote.

Moscow’s capture of Avdiivka was the largest Russian advance on the front since the capture of Avdiivka Bakhmut, also in the Donetsk region, in April 2023.
