A residential building collapsed in Syria, killing several people

13 people, including a child, were killed when a residential building collapsed in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo on Sunday.

According to state media, a five-story building in the Sheikh Maqsood district of Syria’s second-largest city collapsed due to weak foundations due to water leaks.

It is one of many buildings that have collapsed in recent years in Aleppo, which was driven out by Russian and Syrian airstrikes on rebel-held areas six years ago.

According to international media, as a result of the collapsed building in the Kurdish neighborhood, at least 13 people, including a child, have died, while efforts are being made to rescue many buried under the rubble.

Rescue teams are using heavy machinery to clear the debris while relatives of victims are helping to search for their loved ones.

Some of the injured and dead bodies have been brought to the hospital by the citizens on their own vehicles, whose identification is in progress.
