A major decision has been made against the Russian military in Ukraine

A Russian soldier arrested in Ukraine has been sentenced to life in prison for killing an unarmed civilian.

According to international media reports, a court in the capital Kyiv has sentenced a 21-year-old Russian soldier to life in prison for killing an unarmed Ukrainian citizen in a war crimes case before the Russian invasion.

In the war-torn country’s capital, Judge Sergei Agafonov ruled on Monday that the court had found Shishimarin guilty and sentenced him to life in prison.

The court ruled that Shishimarin’s crime was premeditated murder with intent to kill.

The soldier is accused of killing a 62-year-old man in northeastern Ukraine in the wake of the Russian attack. Prosecutors say Shishimarin was commanding a unit in the Tank Division when his convoy was attacked. He and four other soldiers stole a car and encountered a 62 while traveling near Chopakhiyoka. It happened to a man who was on a bicycle.

According to the prosecution, Shishimarin was ordered to kill the civilian and used a Kalashnikov assault rifle to do so.
