A gardener surprised an entire town by leaving them his million-dollar fortune

The residents of Hinsdale, New Hampshire, always saw Geoffrey Holt in his tattered clothes, riding a lawnmower, sitting on the street reading the newspaper, or watching the traffic flow by.

They rarely saw him leave this city and for many years he lived in an RV where he didn’t have a television, a computer or any luxury.

This 82-year-old man won the affection of the residents; But after his death, he surprised them and revealed a big secret to them.

Who would have thought that this gardener was a millionaire? Well, that was the big surprise that amazed the 4,000 residents of this city.

A millionaire will do it

But that wasn’t all, as Geoffrey Holt managed to sign a will in which he decided to leave the city $3.8 million.

He left only one condition: this money must be invested in education, health, leisure and culture.

“I don’t think anyone had the slightest idea that he was so successful. I know he didn’t have many relatives, but in any case it’s a great gift to leave everything to the city where he lived,” Steve Diorio, president of the municipal board, told the AP agency.

The residents have not yet officially met to decide what they want to do with all this money; after the city administration was informed about this will.

Many suggestions have been made, but the truth is that Geoffrey Holt has chosen to live a modest life despite amassing a fortune through various investments over the years.

Given his appearance, no one would have guessed that the gardener who accompanied them for so many years was actually a millionaire.
