A case has been registered against the head of the panchayat for killing stray dogs

A police complaint has been filed against the head of a panchayat and her husband for killing 30 stray dogs in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

According to media reports, after the police investigated the complaint of a social activist working for animal rights, the dead bodies of 30 dogs were found near Shankralingapuram village.

The social worker tried to telephonically contact Naga Lakshmi, head of the panchayat in the village, on the report of the dogs being killed in the village.

Naga Lakshmi’s husband admitted to the social worker that 30 dogs were killed in his village.

They said the dogs were rabid and used to harm residents.

After the confession, the social worker registered a case against the panchayat head and her husband at the Amtur police station.
