A case against a well-known American chocolate manufacturing company

New York: A 125-year-old American chocolate manufacturer, Hershey’s, has been sued for using defective and unhealthy metals in its chocolates.

The lawsuit, filed by plaintiff Lazzaro in a New York federal court, alleges that he purchased Hershey’s Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolate, Lilly’s Extra Dark Chocolate 70% Cocoa and Lilly’s Extreme Dark Chocolate Bars. .

Christopher Lazzaro argued in his petition that the company is selling products that contain harmful amounts of the metal. The plaintiffs say the company misled consumers by not disclosing the amount of lead and cadmium in three dark chocolate bars, claiming they would not have purchased the products if they had known.

The lawsuit also cited recent findings from the US magazine ‘Consumer Reports’ which claimed that lead and cadmium had been experimentally added to chocolate bars. On the other hand, Hershey’s management has not given any immediate response regarding the said case.
