A car crashed into the house of a mayor in France

The address of the mayor of the small town of Haÿ-les-Roses, near Paris, was attacked in the early hours of Sunday by a car that crashed into his house and then caught fire, injuring his wife and one of his children, denounced the mayor.

Vincent Jeanbrun, mayor of this Parisian suburb, reported in a statement on Twitter “an assassination attempt of unspeakable cowardice”.

The Créteil prosecutor, Stéphane Hardouin, noted that “the first verifications indicate that the vehicle was thrown with the intention of burning the house“.

“An accelerator was found in a Coca-Cola bottle,” he said, referring to a chemical catalyst to stoke the fire, and stated that these events are “extremely serious.”

At around 1:30 am (11:30 pm GMT on Saturday), while the mayor was at the municipal headquarters to coordinate the response to the riots in recent days, “they threw a car into my house before setting it on fire” he said on Twitter.

His wife “was injured in the knee and is currently hospitalized, one of the children was slightly injured,” a close associate of the mayor of this town of 30,000 inhabitants told AFP.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne condemned the incident, calling it “intolerable” and called for “the culprits are prosecuted with the greatest firmness”.

France is experiencing a wave of violence since the publication of the video of the death of Nahel, a 17-year-old boy, who died from a point-blank shot by a policeman during a traffic control, on Tuesday in Nanterre, near Paris.

The anger degenerated into riots in France and outrage beyond its borders, especially in Algeria.the country where the family of the young man who died is from.
