A bomb blast near a hotel in the Cuban capital, Havana, has killed at least 22 people and injured more than 65 others.

A government spokesman said the blast at a luxury hotel in the Cuban capital, Havana, was caused by a gas leak. The blast was so loud that its sound could be heard far away.

Cuban state media say the hotel was closed at the time of the blast, only employees were present. State media further said that the blast at the hotel was not a terrorist attack.

According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the Cuban government said Friday that a powerful explosion at a five-star hotel in central Havana, possibly due to a gas leak, had killed at least 18 people. The death toll rose to 22.

According to reports, the blast completely destroyed the exterior of the hotel and destroyed the building, while rescue workers rushed the injured to the hospital.

According to reports, the tourism minister said that according to the information so far, no foreigner has been killed or injured in the gas leak blast.

Numerous reports have also claimed that the gas cylinder in the car parked outside the hotel was the cause of the explosion, however, it has not been confirmed at the official level yet, the matter is under investigation.
