“A better version” of Rins

The season that Bagnaia ended up winning in Valencia has barely had time to rest and there is already a desire to talk about the next one. There will be many changes of riders throughout MotoGP and we already had a taste of what 2023 will be like in the Cheste tests, but we are looking forward to knowing how some of them premiered with their new mounts, such as it was the case of Rins with the LCR Honda. The Catalan still can’t talk about his new team, but he leaves some hints of what he expects in an interview with Estrella Galicia.

“A better version of Álex than there has been until last year.” That is what Rins expects at the beginning of his new adventure in the Honda satellite, “to continue growing as a pilot and as a person”: “We have a very nice project on our hands that I would like to make grow, have a competitive and winning bike again, so these are the objectives”. It does not go further because “now it is difficult to set a goal or an objective, so we will see what the future holds for us”.

That’s all Rins can say about his future for now, so he then goes on to review how his year has been with the bad taste he had after learning about Suzuki’s goodbye: “It was hard when they gave us the news and then we followed several races with bad results, with a mix of bad luck because I was involved in several crashes with other riders, who threw me. In one they broke my hand and then it was like a mountain of bad things. But in the end, we managed to come back and do the end of the season that we have done”.

“Getting two wins in the last three races has been spectacular after looking for it all year. I deserved it and the team would rock it, so I think we’ve had a great end to the season”, summarizes Rins after winning at Phillip Island and Ricardo Tormo, his only two victories of the year, which allowed him to score a good loot of points to finish seventh in the World Cup, well ahead of his former teammate Mir (who missed four races due to injury). That is in the past, now it’s time to think about Honda.
