The two parts of Barça-Baskonia seemed like two different games. During the first 20 minutes, Barça was a disoriented team, which accumulated losses and was unable to stop its rival. After the break he chained a run of 12-0 first and another of 19-0 later, doing practically everything well. The defensive improvement was absolutely key. You open too. Baskonia played a more than worthy first half, handling attacks especially well. But the lights went out after the break. Or Barça turned them off.
The azulgranas were overwhelmed from the start (2-7) largely due to Sanli’s inability to stop Enoch. The Turk, however, was also the protagonist in attack. Lapro always looked for him after penetrating and it is that, for better or worse, the Argentine is today the one who carries the offensive weight of the team. For the better because he is a player with excellent vision and scoring ability, but for the worse because Satoransky was missed again. With a versatile Kailinc, they gradually closed the gap. With Vesely’s entry they turned it around (15-13). Rebound control, key.
Despite the obvious improvement of Barça Baskonia sewed them to counterattacks. Every time they could run they scored easily against the poor defensive balance of the azulgranas. They regained the advantage against a Barça team that lived off Kuric’s free throws, rebounds and points (19-26).
During the second quarter Barça improved in attack, much more fluid, with good minutes from Da Silva. Thompson and Giedraitis resisted giving up the initiative in the electronic, delving into the doubts of the azulgranas. The ten losses in just over 17 minutes (4 by Laprovittola) stretched the score to the despair of Jasikevicius. Baskonia was being better (39-51).
In less than three minutes, Barça came from behind, with 9 points from Abrines and 3 from Vesely (51-51). The success of the Spaniard was key, but also the change in dynamics in the match. Baskonia could only shoot three, no longer connect inside, while the azulgranas were much more dynamic. The visiting defensive facilities did the rest. But the big change was given by Barça in the defensive tone. Only seven points against in the third quarter, when in the first two they received 51 (65-58).
Barça continued to control the game with an iron hand already in the last quarter (73-58) with Peñarroya expelled by two techniques. He took the advantage until the 20th minute, with an absolute dominance of the rebound by the azulgranas. Baskonia, in the end, made up the score slightly (89-74).
