Cyberpunk 2077 prequel Night City 2045 drops to bridge the 32-year lore gap

The Cyberpunk 2077 universe is officially expanding, but it is happening on a tabletop instead of a console. R. Talsorian Games just announced Night City 2045. This massive 312-page sourcebook for the Cyberpunk RED roleplaying game is a direct prequel to V’s storyline. It bridges the 32-year canonical gap in the timeline, dropping players right into the chaotic aftermath of the Fourth Corporate War.

Digital pre-orders are live right now for $30, giving fans immediate access to the PDF. Physical copies will retail for $60 and make their debut at the Origins Game Fair in Columbus before shipping to the general public, confirming the official June 2026 physical release timeline. The scale of this book is intense. It maps out over 600 specific locations across the metropolis.

This is not a quick spin-off. The tabletop publisher worked in collaborative development with CD Projekt Red to lock in the canon, mapping out the specific factions controlling all 24 city districts. The book catalogs 44 active gangs, six criminal organizations, and 23 private security firms fighting for street dominance.

The release timing is incredibly calculated for the broader gaming market. CD Projekt Red is actively working on their video game sequel, currently codenamed Project Orion. That digital release is still years away. Night City 2045 drops a massive lore expansion to keep the fanbase fully engaged while the studio builds the next mainline entry.
