Samsung hit the brakes on its latest software rollout. The 9th One UI 8.5 beta is officially delayed for Galaxy S25 owners in the United States. This pause stems from a massive shift in how rival tech conglomerates handle user interoperability. Samsung is attempting to bridge the gap with Apple’s closed ecosystem. They need extra time to validate a brand new feature that allows direct cross-platform file sharing.

The beta program launched in December 2025. It is now the longest beta cycle in Samsung history. A final Beta 10 is expected soon. After that, the stable operating system drops.

Apple built an empire on ecosystem lock-in. iMessage and AirDrop kept users from switching to Android. Samsung is actively dismantling that barrier.
