SS Rajamouli’s ₹1,400 Crore ‘Varanasi’ Hit By Catastrophic Action Scene Leak

Mahesh Babu’s upcoming time-travel epic Varanasi just suffered another massive security breach. On Wednesday, April 15, Telugu news network Sakshi reported that a high-octane action sequence leaked online, reportedly infuriating director SS Rajamouli. This isn’t just a random phone recording. The production is currently drowning in a massive digital security crisis that is exposing the entire foundation of the ₹1,400 crore Indian blockbuster.

Sakshi TV broke the news at 11:35 AM IST that the unreleased footage was actively circulating across social platforms. Because the leak just happened, the exact visual details of the action scene remain undisclosed by major English outlets. But the damage is compounding rapidly. Just days earlier on April 8, the film’s entire core storyline was accidentally published on the official website of Cinesite, the primary VFX studio handling the massive project.

According to a detailed report by Hindustan Times, that studio synopsis leak revealed massive spoilers. It confirmed Mahesh Babu’s character goes on a time-travel mission for a cosmic artifact dating back to the Ramayana era. The leak also exposed a major betrayal twist involving co-star Prithviraj Sukumaran, as noted in a follow-up timeline published by India Today.

This ongoing crisis is sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry as studios scramble to lock down their pipelines.

Even with draconian Non-Disclosure Agreements and a militant no-phone policy on set, Rajamouli cannot stop the bleeding. In November 2025, unauthorized drone operators successfully bypassed physical security in Hyderabad to capture teaser footage during the film’s title announcement. Now, the failure point has shifted entirely to internal VFX vendors. The paradigm of Indian cinema security is fundamentally broken. When a ₹1,400 crore global tentpole scheduled for April 2027 cannot protect its digital assets across international post-production houses, the traditional Hollywood-style lockdown is officially useless against modern digital supply chains.
