Ram Charan is officially box office royalty again. After a brutal market correction following his last release, the Telugu star’s upcoming sports drama Peddi is currently rewriting pan-India trade math.
The film’s theatrical rights for the Nizam region alone closed at ₹63 crore this week, according to a detailed report released on Monday. Mythri Movie Makers secured the coveted territory, aggressively outbidding established industry heavyweights like Dil Raju and Asian Suniel to control the massive distribution network.
The Nizam acquisition is just one piece of a massive global syndication effort. The film’s worldwide theatrical business is confidently projected to hit the ₹300 crore milestone ahead of its scheduled April 30 release. Regional deals are currently tracking at record highs across the board. Coastal Andhra closed at ₹85 crore, Ceded at ₹35 crore, and Karnataka at ₹23 crore. Overseas markets are expected to pull in upwards of ₹40 crore.
Beyond theaters, Peddi is establishing a massive financial safety net. The pan-India entertainment project has already secured ₹120 crore from Netflix for exclusive OTT streaming rights. Additional non-theatrical revenues include a projected ₹70 crore for satellite broadcasts and a ₹35 crore audio deal acquired by T-Series. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Janhvi Kapoor with music by A.R. Rahman, the production is heavily heavily insulated against box office volatility.
How Peddi Erased the Game Changer Deficit
This unprecedented market demand marks a massive industry bounce-back for Ram Charan. Following the commercial failure of his previous ₹400-plus crore budget film, Game Changer, trade experts initially anticipated a severe market slowdown. That specific project only managed roughly ₹223 crore in pre-release business, leaving regional distributors highly cautious about massive upfront investments.
But Peddi has completely reversed that narrative. By capitalizing on the residual global recognition Charan achieved with 2022’s RRR and pairing him with Buchi Babu Sana’s highly anticipated sports script, the producers successfully reset his market floor. The massive ₹120 crore upfront Netflix deal specifically changes the paradigm for Telugu sports dramas. It allows the production house to aggressively push theatrical prices upward because their base financial investment is already mathematically secure before a single ticket is sold.
