This year marks the first WrestleMania to stream on the ESPN app in the United States and Netflix internationally, demanding maximum mainstream star power to drive global viewership.
The news broke Monday. Cena released a video confirming his pivot from active in-ring competitor to premium live event host. “Since retirement, my ‘road’ has looked a little different… but now I can officially say I’m headed to WrestleMania!!!! See you in Las Vegas!” Cena said.
WWE quickly verified the move on X. The company posted: “The GOAT @JohnCena is OFFICIALLY the Host of #WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas!!!”

This development marks his first physical appearance on WWE programming since December 2025. Cena closed out his legendary wrestling career at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
