Millions of candidates across India’s most populous state compete annually for a fraction of government administrative roles, driving intense competition amid broader national employment anxieties. On Monday, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission officially released the final results for the UP PCS 2024 examination, recommending 932 candidates for civil service positions.
The commission evaluated candidates for 947 notified vacancies. These include vital state posts like Deputy Collector and Deputy Superintendent of Police. Exactly 15 vacancies remain unfilled due to the unavailability of suitable candidates, according to a detailed report released on Monday. The empty slots consist of one Administrative Officer and 14 Administrators.
Female candidates claimed the highest percentiles this cycle. Neha Panchal secured the overall Rank 1. Ananya Trivedi followed at Rank 2. Abhay Pratap Singh took Rank 3. Women captured six of the top 10 positions.
Out of the 932 selected individuals, 613 are male and 319 are female. This brings the female success rate for the 2024 exam cycle to 34.22%. It marks a steady improvement from the 2023 cycle, which saw a 33.46% female success rate. This demographic shift is actively reshaping the administrative world within the state government.
The final selection followed a rigorous interview phase conducted from February 26 to March 23, 2026. A total of 2,698 candidates participated in this final stage. The commission noted that 21 candidates were absent during the interviews.
The 2024 recruitment cycle faced a brief legal intervention earlier this month. After the initial Mains results were declared on February 4, the Allahabad High Court issued an order on March 20. The court directed the UPPSC to provisionally allow two additional petitioners to sit for the interview phase.
The complete merit list containing the names and roll numbers of the selected candidates is currently available on the official UPPSC website. The exact candidate scorecards and post-wise cut-off marks are pending. The commission stated these metrics will be uploaded shortly.
