The official trailer for the Malayalam comedy sequel “Vaazha 2: Biopic of Billion Bros” has arrived. Fans of the surprise 2024 blockbuster finally have a date. The highly anticipated follow-up secures a worldwide theatrical release for April 2, 2026. The original movie redefined the modern coming-of-age story for South Indian audiences. Now the sequel is leaning heavily into that built-in nostalgia to capture lightning in a bottle twice.
The new footage features a massive meta-joke that immediately caught fire online. Alphonse Puthren steps in front of the camera. The real-life director of the 2015 cultural juggernaut “Premam” plays a police officer. In the trailer, he furiously defends his own movie when a character blames the film for ruining modern youth. It is a sharp, self-aware nod to the massive footprint “Premam” left on local fashion and youth culture, according to a detailed report released this weekend.
Director Savin SA takes the helm for this second installment. Vipin Das returns to write and produce the project under the Icon Studios banner. He penned the original “Vaazha – Biopic of a Billion Boys” directed by Anand Menen. They are bringing back the core cast. Actors Hashir, Ajin Joy, Vinayak, and Alan Bin Siraj all reprise their prominent roles.
The studio is stacking the deck with seasoned veterans and fresh faces to dominate the local entertainment market. Biju Kuttan, Sudheesh, and Vijay Babu join the ensemble. The production also cast several popular social media influencers to aggressively target younger ticket buyers.
The Central Board of Film Certification officially cleared the movie with a U/A certificate. The title itself remains the central joke. In colloquial Malayalam, “Vaazha” translates to a good-for-nothing person who idles their youth away. The sequel promises to dive right back into that specific chaos. It explores college life, family friction, and young romance with the exact same frantic energy that made the first film a massive hit.
