Millions of Americans are taking to the streets today for the third wave of the “No Kings” protests, driven by widespread public outrage over the newly launched US-Iran war. The massive demonstrations are a direct response to a spiraling macro-level energy crisis. Iranian forces choked off the Strait of Hormuz in late February. Global oil shipments are severely throttled. Domestic gas prices have skyrocketed.
Organizers project an unprecedented turnout of over 9 million attendees. More than 3,100 protest events are officially scheduled across all 50 U.S. states and 16 other countries. This could make it the largest single day of protest in U.S. history.
The movement has expanded rapidly beyond anti-war sentiment. Demonstrators are citing severe domestic grievances, according to a detailed column analyzing the public mood. Protestors point to soaring food costs and immense TSA security wait times caused by a 42-day partial Department of Homeland Security shutdown.
Anger is also boiling over aggressive federal immigration tactics. Immigration and Customs Enforcement launched “Operation Metro Surge” earlier this year. The intense winter crackdown led directly to the freezing deaths of American citizens Renée Good and Alex Pretti in January. That tragedy rapidly expanded the scope of the resistance.
Minnesota is serving as the national flagship site. It became the epicenter of anti-ICE resistance over the winter. Over 100,000 protesters are expected to converge on the St. Paul Capitol grounds today. High-profile figures including Senator Bernie Sanders and musician Bruce Springsteen are scheduled to appear.

A decentralized coalition of progressive grassroots groups is spearheading the logistics. Indivisible, MoveOn, and 50501 are coordinating the massive crowds. Two-thirds of the registered marches are occurring outside of major urban centers. Protesters are pushing deep into suburban and rural Republican-leaning areas.
The movement previously drew an estimated 5 million people in June 2025 and 7 million in October 2025. The sheer scale of these demonstrations is reshaping the political landscape across the world as international allies watch the domestic instability unfold.
The White House formally dismissed the massive demonstrations. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson called the historic turnout “Trump Derangement Therapy Sessions” orchestrated by leftist funding networks.
