Quadruple Amputee Arrested In Fatal Maryland Tesla Shooting

LA PLATA, Md. — Authorities in Virginia have arrested a 27-year-old quadruple amputee in connection with a fatal weekend shooting in Maryland. Dayton James Webber was taken into custody on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, following the death of 27-year-old Bradrick Michael Wells.

The Charles County Sheriff’s Office reported that Webber allegedly shot Wells late Sunday, March 22, 2026, during an altercation inside a moving vehicle. Webber, a former professional cornhole player who previously gained national media attention for his athletic achievements, is currently held in the Albemarle-Charlottesville regional jail awaiting extradition.

According to investigators, the incident occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m. local time. Webber was driving a Tesla SUV with Wells seated in the front passenger seat and two other individuals in the back. An argument ensued, during which Webber allegedly produced a firearm and shot Wells twice in the head.

Following the gunfire, Webber reportedly pulled the vehicle over near Radio Station Road in La Plata and instructed the backseat passengers to help remove Wells’ body. The passengers refused, fled the vehicle, and flagged down local police. Webber then drove away with the victim still inside the SUV.

Law enforcement officials discovered Wells’ body approximately two hours later in a yard on Newport Church Road in Charlotte Hall, roughly 15 miles from the initial scene. Webber was located hours later at a hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was seeking treatment for an undisclosed medical issue.

Upon his discharge from the medical facility, Albemarle County Police arrested Webber as a fugitive from justice. He faces pending charges in Maryland of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Webber lost his arms above the elbows and both legs to a severe blood infection at 10 months old. He subsequently became a prominent inspirational figure in the sporting world, teaching himself to wrestle and play football. In 2022, he became the first quadruple amputee to compete professionally in the televised American Cornhole League.

Following the murder allegations, public inquiries emerged regarding Webber’s physical capacity to operate a vehicle and a firearm. Previously published online videos demonstrate Webber successfully loading and firing both a 9mm handgun and a .54-caliber rifle utilizing his upper arms.

The American Cornhole League released a brief statement acknowledging the situation as an “extremely serious matter.” The organization declined to comment further on the active legal investigation, noting that Webber had not been an active league participant since late 2024.
