Udinese secured a 2-0 away victory over Genoa on Friday at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium to claim three points in Serie A. Jurgen Ekkelenkamp broke the deadlock in the 66th minute before Keinan Davis added a stoppage-time goal on a counter-attack to seal the result for the visitors.
The victory moves Udinese to 40 points on the season, elevating them above Sassuolo into 10th place in the league table. Genoa remains stalled in the bottom half with 33 points after failing to capitalize on the momentum from their recent consecutive wins against Roma and Verona.

Genoa generated chances in the first half but was repeatedly denied by the woodwork. Lorenzo Colombo and a Ruslan Malinovskyi free kick both struck the crossbar before the intermission. The hosts faced further frustration in the second half when a penalty initially awarded to them was overturned following a VAR intervention.
Udinese capitalized on the missed opportunities when Nicolò Zaniolo delivered a lofted cross into the penalty area. Ekkelenkamp slipped past the defense to head the ball into the net for the opening goal. The assist allowed Zaniolo to officially reach five goals and five assists for the 2025-2026 Serie A campaign. This marks the first time in his career he has achieved double-digit goal involvements in a single league season, joining Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco as one of the only Italian players to record a five-and-five stat line this year.
Davis secured the final margin deep into stoppage time, finishing a late counter-attack to conclude the sports contest. Despite his late goal, the English forward received a yellow card in the 65th minute. Due to prior accumulation, the booking ensures Davis will be suspended for Udinese’s next league match against Como. The result provided a successful response for Udinese manager Kosta Runjaic following a previous 1-0 defeat to Juventus, while Genoa manager Daniele De Rossi looks to regroup his squad.
