Dhurandhar The Revenge Breaks Preview Records With Rs 50 Crore Gross

Aditya Dhar’s highly anticipated spy sequel “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” has officially hit theaters, and the box office metrics are already being rewritten. Headlined by Ranveer Singh, the cinematic juggernaut obliterated previous benchmarks during its March 18 pan-India paid previews, grossing a staggering Rs 52 crore, with Rs 44 crore net in the domestic market. The haul effortlessly doubles the previous preview record of Rs 25 crore held by Pawan Kalyan’s “OG.”

The financial dominance extends well beyond domestic borders. According to Venky Box Office, the film minted USD 1.44 million from North American premiere shows across 705 locations. The massive ticket sales materialized despite logistical hiccups, as technical difficulties triggered significant delays and outright cancellations for several South language premiere shows across multiple locations.

Anticipating the unprecedented demand, authorities and exhibitors have taken drastic measures to protect the film’s theatrical run. The Madras High Court issued a strict restraining order against internet service providers and cable TV operators, banning any illegal streaming or broadcasting of the blockbuster until April 15. Meanwhile, the cultural footprint is so massive that Mumbai’s iconic Maratha Mandir theater notably altered the show timings of Shah Rukh Khan’s historic, long-running “DDLJ” to accommodate the sequel.

The industry reaction has been uniformly electric. Following an early screening, actor Allu Arjun praised the film online, calling it a “BLAST” and describing it as “Patriotism with swag.” Grammy-winning composer Ricky Kej labeled the project a “masterpiece,” noting that Dhar’s direction effectively strikes a balance between Ridley Scott’s epic realism and Quentin Tarantino’s flamboyant action. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma publicly projected that the momentum could push the film to earn over Rs 120 crore on its opening day.

The sequel bridges the gap between the Indian spy’s past, present, and future, continuing directly from its 2025 predecessor. The plot tracks Jaskirat’s transformation into Hamza Ali Mazari, now known as the “Sher-e-Baloch,” as he stages a hostile takeover of the Lyari underworld following the death of Rehman Dakait. Singh is joined by a heavy-hitting ensemble that includes R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, and Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, as they attempt to dismantle terror funding and face off against a mysterious antagonist known as “Bade Sahab.”

Fans settling in for the espionage epic should prepare for a marathon viewing experience. The Central Board of Film Certification officially cleared the film with a U/A 16+ rating and a confirmed runtime of 3 hours and 28 minutes. Dedicated audiences attending the initial previews were quick to issue a theatrical advisory: the sequel features two verified post-credit scenes, strictly warning theatergoers to stay seated until the screen goes completely dark.
