Hornets Erase 19-Point Deficit To Defeat Trail Blazers 103-101

The Charlotte Hornets defeated the Portland Trail Blazers 103-101 on Tuesday night at the Moda Center. The victory snapped a two-game losing streak for Charlotte, returning their regular-season record to an even 33-33. Portland built a massive 19-point lead in the first half, but Charlotte completely shut down the Trail Blazers’ offense late in the game to secure the comeback win.

Portland controlled the early stages of the contest, taking a 43-24 advantage in the second quarter. The Hornets steadily chipped away at the deficit before executing a stifling defensive performance in the final period. Charlotte restricted Portland to just 19 points in the fourth quarter to take the lead and close out the game.

Brandon Miller led the Hornets with 21 points and eight rebounds. Point guard LaMelo Ball scored 12 of his 14 total points in the fourth quarter before fouling out after 22 minutes of playing time. Rookies Kon Knueppel and Ryan Kalkbrenner provided critical production for Charlotte; Knueppel recorded 15 points and five rebounds, and Kalkbrenner added 13 points and six rebounds.

Jerami Grant was the top scorer for Portland, recording 24 points on highly efficient 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Deni Avdija contributed 22 points, and Scoot Henderson finished with 14 points coming off the bench.

The result extended an overwhelming stretch of road dominance for the Hornets, who have now won 11 of their last 12 away games. The franchise previously broke a 15-game losing streak in Portland in February 2024, and the momentum in the head-to-head matchup has remained with Charlotte over the last two seasons. The Hornets continue their road trip against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday in ongoing professional sports competition, while the Trail Blazers will remain at home to host the Utah Jazz on Friday.
