Miley Cyrus Confirms Maxx Morando Engagement, Cherishes Privacy

Miley Cyrus has confirmed her engagement to fellow musician Maxx Morando, emphasizing the couple’s commitment to privacy. The 33-year-old singer shared insights into her relationship in a recent interview.

"The detail that I can share is that, for us, our privacy and keeping it all small has been something that has astounded me, that I’ve actually been able to have and also able to have more options," Cyrus told People in an interview published on Tuesday, December 2. She added that being older has made her "more protective of what I’m willing to share."

Cyrus linked her relationship to themes in the upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash, which features her song "Dream as One." She noted the film’s exploration of "love, family resilience, reconnection, and that idea that together we are stronger." This, she explained, "was perfectly thematic and aligned with where I am now."

The engagement rumors began swirling after Cyrus and Morando, 27, made a rare red carpet appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash on Monday, December 1. Fans quickly noticed a gold and diamond ring on Cyrus’s left hand.

A source later confirmed to Us Weekly that Cyrus is indeed engaged, with the proposal having occurred in November. "Miley never thought she would get married again and Maxx changed everything for her," the source revealed. "They have a very healthy, private relationship."

Cyrus has had several high-profile romances in the past, including relationships with Liam Hemsworth, Cody Simpson, and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Her connection with Morando began differently, meeting on a blind date in the summer of 2021.

The couple has been photographed at major events, such as the 2024 Grammys and 2025 Oscars. However, they have consistently maintained a low public profile for their relationship.

"He’s very similar to me. We just don’t take life too seriously," Cyrus told Harper’s Bazaar in November 2024, expressing how much Morando inspires her.

Cyrus has also playfully credited astrology for their instant connection. On a June episode of the podcast "Sorry We’re Cyrus," she described Morando as a Scorpio. "He can sting," she said, adding that she "couldn’t be with someone who doesn’t sting. I’d already be fried."

While wedding plans remain under wraps, Cyrus previously shared relationship advice she received from her parents, Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus. Her parents separated in 2022 after 28 years of marriage.

"Nothing and no one stays the same," Miley told Cosmopolitan in August 2017, recalling their words of wisdom. She added, "Grow, evolve, change together and celebrate the journey of your love!"
