Portuguese radio icon Olga Cardoso, affectionately known as “amiga Olga” (friend Olga), has died at the age of 91 following a stroke, a long-time colleague announced early Wednesday.
António Sala, a fellow broadcaster and friend, shared the news through a social media post. Cardoso had been a highly respected voice and a significant figure in Portuguese radio for many decades.
“Olga is no longer physically with us. She departed early this morning. Dear Olga, thank you for everything,” Sala wrote in his message, expressing his deep gratitude.
Cardoso had been receiving medical care at São João Hospital in Porto. Her hospitalization followed a stroke she suffered prior to her death.
