A nationwide amateur padel tour in Portugal recently concluded its third successful season, reinforcing the sport’s rapid growth and community appeal across the country.
The “CUPRA Open Padel on Tour” engaged amateur players and spectators in nine stages held from May to November, contributing to the sport’s “exponential evolution” in the country.
Organizers highlighted padel’s unique ability to combine fierce, healthy competition with a festive atmosphere, fostering both camaraderie and rivalry.
The tour’s success underscored the sport’s increasing fan base in Portugal. Events catered to all skill levels with three categories for both male and female athletes.
The tour visited cities including Braga, Sintra, Coimbra, Chaves, Vilamoura, Lisbon, Leiria, Porto, and Viseu. These locations spanned the country from north to south.
CUPRA, a major partner in padel’s expansion in Portugal, offered participants and spectators additional experiences off-court. These included testing new car models and engaging with virtual reality padel simulations.
Competitors also participated in various contests and explored Forza Horizon 5 simulators.
Champion pairs from each stage received medals and a Wilson X CUPRA racket. All participants took home souvenirs, with organizers emphasizing companionship and passion throughout the athletic journey.
