Daddy Yankee has filed a federal lawsuit against his former manager Raphy Pina and his ex-wife Mireddys González. The suit alleges a multi-million dollar scheme to divert royalties from his music.
The lawsuit, filed in Federal Court in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, seeks $3 million in damages. It also demands a jury trial under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.
Beyond Pina and González, the legal action targets lawyer Edwin Prado Galarza, Andrés Coll Fernández, and several entities. These include Los Cangris, Inc. and Pina Records.
Lawyers for Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, known as Daddy Yankee, claim the defendants executed a fraudulent royalty diversion scheme. This alleged activity spanned from 2004 until February 2025.
The lawsuit states Pina, as manager and producer, manipulated contracts and official authorship records. He allegedly falsified “split sheets,” attributing portions of royalties to himself unfairly.
Pina is accused of inserting his name into the authorship of songs by Daddy Yankee and other artists. This happened without him contributing to their creation.
Daddy Yankee’s attorneys assert Pina “exercised control of artists’ finances and used intimidation and emotional manipulation tactics to force loyalty and silence dissent.” This statement is part of the formal complaint.
Mireddys González, despite her personal and professional ties to Daddy Yankee, is implicated in the alleged scheme. Attorneys claim she helped falsify documents and manipulate records to divert royalties and copyrights.

Court documents suggest Pina and co-defendants operated the scheme after Daddy Yankee assumed control of his companies, Los Cangris, Inc. and El Cartel Records, in 2025. It was at this time that the alleged network of royalty diversion was discovered.
The lawsuit also levels charges of wire fraud, interference in interstate commerce, and extortion. Daddy Yankee’s lawyers have presented emails and other documents as evidence of the alleged coordination.
In mid-February 2025, Raphy Pina addressed his connection to Daddy Yankee’s then-ongoing divorce from Mireddys González. Pina had indicated he expected legal action.
Pina stated on Instagram that the allegations were a “publicity stunt” by lawyers. He claimed it was an attempt to prolong a marital situation and divide substantial assets.
Reports from Metro Puerto Rico indicated that Pina or his agents, along with González, made company decisions. Pina allegedly requested that Ramón L. Ayala not be included in communications.
Pina highlighted a nine-year working relationship with Daddy Yankee and Mireddys González, beginning in 2015. He said they communicated up to 30 times daily.
Pina directly stated, “If he has any doubt, let him ask me and I will clarify it for him first. I did not do business with Mireddys González, I did business with him.”
