Peugeot 308 and 308 SW Relaunch with AI, V2L, and Electrified Driving

Peugeot is updating its 308 compact car and 308 SW wagon models with a focus on advanced technology and diverse powertrains to reinforce their market leadership. The French automaker aims to enhance driving pleasure while offering solutions for various customer needs.

The 308 range has consistently led Portugal’s C-segment for two consecutive years. The 308 SW has been the top-selling wagon in the country for four years straight.

The new generation brings more style, advanced technology, and a driving experience Peugeot describes as even more enjoyable. This comprehensive refresh includes significant updates to the exterior, interior, and powertrain options.

A key highlight is the expanded electrification. The new E-308 all-electric model now offers a range of 450 km (280 miles) under the WLTP standard, an increase of 34 km (21 miles). It features a 115 kW (156 hp) motor and a 58.3 kWh battery.

Fast charging allows the E-308 to go from 20% to 80% capacity in just 32 minutes at a 100 kW station. Drivers can also control three levels of regenerative braking via steering wheel paddles.

For those seeking a balance of electric and conventional power, a plug-in hybrid option combines a 150 hp turbo engine with a 125 hp electric motor, yielding 195 hp. Its electric-only range has increased to 85 km (53 miles) WLTP, up 20 km (12 miles).

A simpler 145 hp hybrid system is also available, self-regenerating its battery during driving. This allows up to 50% of urban travel to be completed in electric mode. Fuel consumption ranges between 4.8 and 5 liters per 100 km (around 47 to 49 miles per gallon).

Peugeot continues to offer a 130 hp 1.5-liter diesel engine with an EAT8 automatic transmission. This option is designed for drivers who frequently travel long distances.

Technology upgrades are extensive, featuring over-the-air updates and the PEUGEOT i-Connect or i-Connect Advanced infotainment systems. The latter includes TomTom navigation and integrates with ChatGPT for enhanced voice commands.

The MyPeugeot app allows remote car management, including checking maintenance, locating the vehicle, and controlling doors, lights, and the horn. It also enables scheduling charging and climate control.

Electric vehicle users benefit from a Trip Planner, which assists in mapping routes by considering range, topography, and charging station availability. The Plug & Charge functionality is now compatible with over 10,000 European charging points.

The new models also prepare for Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing them to power external equipment up to 3.5 kW. This feature is useful for devices like electric bicycles or camping lighting.

Exterior updates include a completely renewed front fascia. For the first time on a Peugeot, the front emblem is illuminated, integrated into a more elegant grille. The signature lighting also evolves with three LED claw motifs in both front and rear optics.

Depending on the version, headlights utilize Full LED or Matrix LED technology. New diamond-cut wheels are available, with 17-inch options for the Allure and 18-inch for the GT. All electric variants come standard with 18-inch wheels.

Inside, the i-Cockpit layout includes a minimalist panel and a compact steering wheel. A digital instrument panel is standard, with 3D graphics available in the GT version. Five customizable i-Toggles provide shortcuts to functions like radio stations or air conditioning controls.

Comfort features include front seats certified by AGR (Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V.) for ergonomic support, with optional massage and heating functions. An intelligent air conditioning system with advanced filters and a Focal sound system are also available.

The brand emphasizes sustainability, incorporating over 30% recycled or renewable materials in each vehicle. This includes hemp fiber in the dashboard and recycled plastics throughout the exterior and interior.

All new Peugeot electric models are covered by PEUGEOT CARE, offering an 8-year or 160,000 km (100,000 miles) warranty for both the vehicle and its battery. This package also includes an EasyWallbox home charging unit and a charging card for access to nearly one million chargers across Europe.
