Boman Irani, the acclaimed actor, is embarking on his second directorial project. This announcement comes as he prepares to celebrate his 66th birthday on December 2.
His upcoming film will feature a new genre, marking a deliberate shift from his previous directorial effort. Irani stated his intention to explore diverse storytelling styles.
He informed Hindustan Times, “After directing a family drama, I consciously decided to choose a different genre. Just because people liked the first film, I don’t think I can be bound by the same genre.” He further elaborated, “I want to enjoy different worlds of cinema.”
Irani made his directorial debut earlier this year with “The Mehta Boys.” That film was a family drama exploring a father-son dynamic.
He also featured as an actor in “The Mehta Boys” alongside Avinash Tiwary.
Reflecting on the filmmaking process, Irani acknowledged its inherent difficulties. He highlighted the complex journey from scriptwriting to securing financing and casting.
“You put your heart and soul into it, but you also have to accept that not everyone will like your work,” he shared.
Looking to future aspirations, Irani expressed a strong desire to direct legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan. He believes this would be a significant experience for upcoming generations of filmmakers.
Irani imagined the scenario, stating, “Just having the courage to tell him, ‘This is the scene, and this is how it happens’.”
Beyond his work as an actor and director, Irani also enjoys his role as an educator.
