Portuguese football powerhouses Benfica and Sporting Lisbon cruised into the next round of the Taça de Portugal with commanding wins over third-division teams.
Benfica secured a dominant 12-1 victory away against Santa Cita, a lower-tier club based near Tomar.
Sporting Lisbon, the reigning cup holders, also advanced decisively, defeating CRC Os Águias 11-2 at the opponent’s home ground near Leiria.
Both clubs secured their places in the 16th round of the tournament after their respective 32nd-round fixtures.
Earlier in the competition, fellow top-tier club FC Porto had also progressed, avoiding a potential upset against Académica.
