Actor Salman Khan is defending himself against a legal complaint alleging he advertised pan masala. His lawyer recently stated in court that Khan did not promote pan masala products.
Instead, Khan’s legal counsel asserted that the actor promoted silver-coated cardamom. This product, the lawyer argued, does not fall under the category of pan masala.
Lawyer Ashish Dubey, representing Khan, further contended that the Consumer Commission lacks the authority to pursue the complaint. Dubey stated that Khan is neither involved in pan masala manufacturing nor is he a service provider for such products. Including Khan in this case is legally incorrect, according to his defense.
The complaint against Khan was filed by Inder Mohan Singh Honey, a BJP leader and lawyer from Kota. Honey accused Khan and the unnamed pan masala company of misleading the public.
The complaint specifically alleged that real saffron cannot be used in a product sold for just 5 rupees.
The next hearing for this case is scheduled for December 9 at the Kota Consumer Court.
