Brazilian esports team MIBR secured a spot in the semifinals of the ESL Impact League Season 8 Finals, overcoming rival Atrix in a decisive 2-0 victory at what will be the final world championship for the Counter-Strike 2 circuit.
The win for MIBR on Saturday, November 29, marked a significant comeback, as Atrix had previously defeated them in the opening round of the same tournament. This decisive lower bracket match ensured MIBR’s progression while eliminating Atrix from the competition.
ESL had announced in October that this edition would be the last world championship for the ESL Impact circuit, adding historical weight to MIBR’s advancement.
MIBR demonstrated dominance throughout the best-of-three series. They secured the first map, Dust2, with a commanding 13-5 score.
The team then sealed their 2-0 sweep on Inferno, closing out the map 13-3.
MIBR will now face an as-yet-undetermined opponent in the semifinals, scheduled for Sunday, November 30. The final match will follow the two semifinal games.
