Travis Kelce took to the football field on Thanksgiving, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, November 27. Superstar Taylor Swift was notably absent from the away game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, reportedly cheering on her fiancé from a distance.
This absence aligns with a deliberate strategy by the 35-year-old pop icon to maintain a lower profile this season. Swift has consistently attended Kelce’s home games, including the Sunday, November 23 matchup at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, where the Chiefs triumphed over the Indianapolis Colts in overtime, bringing their 2025-2026 season record to 6-5. However, she has opted to go unnoticed into a private suite for these appearances.
Sources close to the couple confirmed Swift’s choice to step back from the intense spotlight that previously surrounded her appearances. An insider told Us Weekly in October that the attention on her "was becoming too excessive." This season, Swift has yet to travel for any of Kelce’s away games.
Beyond the Chiefs’ demanding NFL schedule, Kelce, 36, and Swift are navigating their first holiday season as an engaged couple. Their proposal took place in August, marking a significant step in their relationship.
Their holiday plans are expected to be "very low-key, family-focused, and [will not involve] big trips," a source revealed to Us in October. With Chiefs games scheduled on both Thanksgiving and Christmas, the couple prioritizes spending their limited free time with their respective families.
"Travis fits right in with her family, and Taylor adores [his mom] Donna. They talk all the time," the source added. "They make sure to see both families as often as they can. They are very family-oriented, and they have always loved that about each other."
Looking back, Swift and Kelce shared their first Thanksgiving together last year, after she spent the November 2023 holidays on her Eras Tour in South America. Swift’s parents, Andrea and Scott, hosted the Kelce family in Nashville for Thanksgiving 2024 before everyone traveled to Kansas City for a Chiefs game against the Las Vegas Raiders the following day.
For Christmas, Swift attended Kelce’s December 2023 Christmas Day game against the Raiders, but missed his away game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers the following year. This Christmas, Swift is likely to be at Arrowhead Stadium with Kelce when the Chiefs host the Denver Broncos.
Before the holiday rush began, Swift and Kelce settled into a comfortable domestic routine post-engagement. "With their careers so prominent, it feels good to enjoy simplicity and normalcy together," an October source told Us. Another informant added, "Taylor and Travis are really low-key. On a typical night, they have a relaxed dinner and decide what to stream. It’s very homey and quiet."
Wedding plans "are moving forward," according to the initial source. Both are "very involved," and Swift reportedly finds it "cute that Travis wants to help." The couple anticipates marrying next summer, with Swift’s Rhode Island home among the locations being considered for the celebration. They are eager to tie the knot, as "they don’t want a long engagement," the source noted. The couple is also "very eager to start a family in the next year or so. Family is everything to them."
