A new entrant in Portugal’s news television market, the NOW channel, has captured the top spot for prime-time viewership, surpassing established competitors.

NOW recorded an average of 67,400 viewers per minute during the 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. slot, achieving a 1.6% market share. These figures position it as the leading news channel during this peak viewing period in Portugal.

The channel outranked SIC Notícias, which drew an average of 64,100 viewers per minute during the same hours.

CNN Portugal lagged further behind, securing 53,800 viewers per minute and a 1.3% share of the audience.

The viewership figures were compiled by the measurement firm GFK.

The channel is accessible on channel 9 across all cable television platforms in Portugal.
