Ranveer Singh’s anticipated film “Dhurandhar” is poised to potentially break a significant Bollywood runtime record. Reports suggest the movie could be one of the longest mainstream releases in 17 years.
According to Bollywood Hungama, “Dhurandhar” is estimated to run for approximately 3 hours and 32 minutes. This substantial duration has generated considerable buzz within the industry.
The final runtime is currently kept under wraps. However, it is expected to be around the 3.5-hour mark.
The process for Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) approval has commenced. The exact duration will be confirmed once the CBFC clears the film.
Should these reports prove accurate, “Dhurandhar” would mark one of the longest films since 2008. The last film to exceed this length was “Jodhaa Akbar,” released 17 years ago, with a runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes.
The film’s extensive duration is attributed to its long and intricate story. Director Aditya Dhar’s vision reportedly necessitates a comprehensive narrative.
Some reports indicate that “Dhurandhar” may even be released in two parts. This approach could manage audience attention for such a lengthy feature.
Historically, other long Bollywood films include “LOC Kargil” (4 hours 7 minutes), “Lagaan” (3 hours 44 minutes), “Salaam-e-Ishq” (3 hours 36 minutes), and “Mohabbatein” (3 hours 35 minutes). These films are often remembered for their epic storytelling.
“Dhurandhar” is written and directed by Aditya Dhar. The film features a robust ensemble cast.
Ranveer Singh stars alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Sara Arjun. The film is believed to be a high-stakes spy-thriller action movie.
“Dhurandhar” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 5.
