Veteran actor Dharmendra passed away on Monday, November 24, at the age of 89. His cremation was held at the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai’s Vile Parle district. Many prominent Bollywood figures attended the funeral to pay their final respects.
On Tuesday morning, Dharmendra’s grandson, Karan Deol, arrived at the crematorium. Karan, son of actor Sunny Deol, was there to collect his grandfather’s ashes. He was observed carrying an urn, draped in a red cloth, from the facility.
News agency PTI reported on the somber occasion, noting the visible sadness on Karan Deol’s face.

Dharmendra had been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital. He was discharged on November 12, after which a specialized ICU ward was set up at his Juhu residence. He received continuous care from doctors and four nurses there.
Born Dharmendra Kewal Krishna Deol on December 8, 1935, in Nasrali village, Punjab, he hailed from a family where his father served as a school headmaster. He completed his higher education at Punjab University.
His journey into acting began after winning a Filmfare magazine new talent competition, leading him to Mumbai. He made his debut in the 1960 film Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere.
Dharmendra’s prolific career spanned over 300 films, making him one of Bollywood’s most enduring stars. His final film, Ikkis, is slated for release on December 25, 2025.
