Chaves Coach Martins: ‘Maintain Consistency’ After Ending Losing Streak

Portuguese club Chaves faces a significant challenge to extend its recent winning streak against Sporting B, the surprising leader of Liga Portugal Meu Super, in a postponed match this Sunday.

Chaves coach Filipe Martins lauded Sporting B’s consistent performance and quality. He noted the team’s rise from Liga 3 and its unexpected leadership position in the league.

“Sporting B has had a very consistent championship,” Martins said. “It is a team that has a lot of quality and is not as inexperienced as that, because it has several players who have already been in 1st and 2nd division clubs.”

Martins attributed much of Sporting B’s success to the “work of the Sporting academy,” highlighting their strong tactical approach.

Martins stressed the importance of building on their recent success, stating that “better than one victory are two.” Chaves aims to secure three more points in their league campaign.

To achieve this, Martins called for a highly competent and defensively aggressive performance. He emphasized the need to prevent Sporting B from freely building their play.

“We have to try to maintain the consistency shown in the previous game,” Martins added, underscoring the team’s need for organization and demonstrating their quality.

Chaves recently snapped a four-game losing streak with a victory in Matosinhos. Martins expressed satisfaction with the positive contributions of goalkeeper Marko Gudzulic and central defender Tounkara.

The match, a delayed fixture from the ninth round, is scheduled for Sunday at 11:00 AM local time.
