Major Floods in Central Vietnam Kill 41, Nine Missing

Flooding and landslides have claimed at least 41 lives in central Vietnam and displaced tens of thousands, with authorities warning of continued heavy rains compounding the disaster.

The calamity, caused by several days of relentless downpours, has also left nine people missing across the region.

More than 62,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes, according to a statement released on November 20, 2025, by Vietnam’s Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention Department.

Over 50,000 homes are submerged underwater. Millions of households are without electricity.

The provinces of Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa are among the hardest hit, experiencing high water levels and extensive damage.

The severe weather has swept away suspension bridges and triggered over 140 road collapses and landslides. Tens of thousands of acres of livestock and agricultural produce have also been destroyed.

Thousands of rescue workers have been deployed to assist people trapped on rooftops and in flooded areas.

The meteorological office has issued warnings for potential new floods and landslides. Heavy rain is expected to continue in several provinces throughout the upcoming weekend.
