Mandhira Kapur, sister of the late businessman Sanjay Kapur, has publicly addressed the ongoing property dispute involving his estate. Her statements offer a rare glimpse into the family’s perspective on the contentious inheritance battle.
Kapur recently spoke on a podcast, defending her brother’s character and clarifying his past relationship with actress Karisma Kapoor. Sanjay Kapur passed away several months ago.
The property dispute is currently in court. It primarily involves Karisma Kapoor’s children and Sanjay Kapur’s third wife, Priya Sachdev.
Mandhira Kapur explicitly voiced her support for Karisma Kapoor’s children in this legal battle. She clarified her brother’s behavior during his 2003-2016 marriage to Karisma Kapoor.
“I have read many comments about Sanjay Kapur on social media, with people calling him a ‘womanizer’,” Mandhira stated. She urged respect for her deceased brother.
“Firstly, he is no longer in this world, so he should be respected,” she continued. “Secondly, everyone except Priya Sachdev knew what kind of person Sanjay was. He never hid anything.”
Mandhira asserted that her brother did not mistreat Karisma Kapoor during their marriage.
Addressing the property claims, Kapur emphasized that Priya Sachdev’s daughter from a previous marriage does not hold the same inheritance rights as Sanjay Kapur’s biological children.
“They will always remain Sanjay’s stepchildren,” she stated. “No one is denying that my brother didn’t love her. We treated her like family.”
She added a pointed remark, “When Samaira (Karisma’s daughter) is there, don’t take over the family.”
Mandhira Kapur clearly stated that Karisma Kapoor’s children, Samaira and Kiaan, have the primary right to their father Sanjay Kapur’s inheritance.
