Portuguese-English forward Fábio Carvalho will miss the remainder of the football season after suffering a severe knee ligament injury, his Premier League club Brentford announced.
The 23-year-old sustained an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury in one of his knees. He is scheduled for surgery and has already begun rehabilitation at the club.
Brentford, currently positioned 12th in the Premier League standings, confirmed the news in a statement released on Thursday. The club did not specify which knee was affected.
“Fábio Carvalho suffered an Anterior Cruciate Ligament injury and will be sidelined for the rest of the season,” the club’s statement read. “The forward was evaluated by a specialist and is now preparing for ligament repair surgery, having already begun his rehabilitation at the club.”
The club also shared a message of support for the player on social media.

This injury marks a significant setback for Carvalho, who is in his second year with the ‘Bees’. He had contributed three goals and one assist in nine official matches this season.
Despite his contributions, Carvalho had started only four of those nine appearances for Brentford.
