Sporting Club de Portugal’s basketball team has advanced to the second phase of the FIBA Europe Cup, where it will face formidable clubs from Spain, Greece, and Slovakia.
The Portuguese side secured its spot by finishing second in Group G. They demonstrated their strength with a dominant 121-67 victory over Valcea on Wednesday.
Sporting is one of 16 teams moving into the competition’s second stage. The team has been placed into Group M for the upcoming fixtures.
Their opponents in Group M include Surne Bilbao Basket from Spain, PAOK BC from Greece, and BC Prievidza from Slovakia. This sets up a challenging international slate.
The structure of the second phase dictates that the top two teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals. This adds high stakes to every match.
Other groups in this phase include Group K, featuring teams such as UCAM Murcia, and Group L, which includes CSM CSU Raiffeisen Oradea. Group N comprises teams like Dinamo BDS Sassari.
Sporting’s schedule begins with an away game against Bilbao on December 10. They will then host PAOK on December 17.
Additional matches include a visit to Prievidza on January 14, 2026. Sporting will host Bilbao on January 21, 2026. The team travels to face PAOK on February 4, 2026, before concluding group play by hosting Prievidza on February 11, 2026.
