FC Porto’s basketball team has been eliminated from the FIBA Europe Cup after suffering a decisive 96-68 defeat to Rostock in Germany, finishing last in their group.
The Wednesday loss solidified their fourth-place standing in Group B of the competition. This position prevents the Portuguese club from advancing to the next stage.
FC Porto struggled from the outset, falling behind significantly in the first half of the match. Rostock quickly established a lead, winning the first two periods 23-14 and 26-23.
The Portuguese team went into halftime trailing 49-37.
Coach Fernando Sá’s team attempted to rally in the third period, which ended in a 20-20 tie. Despite this effort, Rostock maintained control and extended their lead in the final quarter, winning it 27-11.
Javian Davis was a top scorer for FC Porto, contributing 12 points in the effort.
