Rapper Nicki Minaj recently spoke at a United Nations event, drawing attention to the serious issue of Christian persecution in Nigeria. The Trinidad-born artist used her platform to highlight global religious freedom concerns.
Minaj also offered praise to former U.S. President Donald Trump for initially raising the critical issue. She addressed an American mission panel alongside religious leaders during the program.
Her remarks emphasized that protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about taking sides. Instead, she stated, “It’s sadly a growing problem not only in Nigeria but many other countries around the world.”
Minaj believes the goal is to unite people on the matter. She described Nigeria as a beautiful nation with deep faith and traditions.
“Religious freedom means that we can all practice our religion,” Minaj asserted. She added that this right applies “no matter who we are, where we live, and whatever our faith may be.”
Earlier, former President Trump had publicly discussed the persecution of Christians in Nigeria. He had also instructed the Pentagon to prepare for potential military action in the West African country.
However, experts presented a different view on the situation. They suggested that while some attacks target Christians, violence in Nigeria largely affects all populations. Many incidents are not specifically linked to religious affiliation.
