Magnus Andersson: ‘Extremely Disappointed’ After FC Porto-Benfica Draw

FC Porto coach Magnus Andersson expressed profound disappointment over his team’s draw against rivals Benfica, attributing the outcome to numerous technical errors, but insisted the result would not derail their league title objectives.

The Swedish coach highlighted what he called “too many technical errors” from FC Porto throughout the match. He also noted a lack of clear offensive strategy by his team.

“We have to play better in attack,” Andersson stated, reflecting the team’s sentiment. He added that everyone involved was “extremely disappointed with the performance.”

Andersson criticized the team’s decision-making during the game. He mentioned a “terrible score” at the start of the second half.

While FC Porto managed to show some moments of strong play and reaction, they repeatedly faltered. “Every time we had a one or two-goal lead, we played badly again,” Andersson said. He indicated that late player exclusions “cost us dearly.”

Despite the setback, Andersson maintained a pragmatic outlook regarding the club’s league aspirations. He affirmed the draw would not compromise FC Porto’s pursuit of the title.

“We are disappointed with how we played and also because we didn’t have rhythm in attack today,” the coach explained. However, he stressed, “it is clear that this draw does not compromise our goals.”
