Bollywood Legend Kamini Kaushal’s Funeral: Family Smiles Spark Backlash

Veteran Bollywood actress Kamini Kaushal passed away recently at the age of 98. She died this past Friday, and her funeral took place on Saturday in Mumbai. However, a video from the private ceremony has sparked debate among social media users.

The video shows family members greeting attendees warmly, with some observed smiling during the somber occasion. This particular aspect drew immediate scrutiny online.

Kaushal’s final rites were conducted at the Worli Crematorium on Dr. Moses Road in Mumbai. The ceremony began at 10:30 AM local time. Her family ensured that her pet dogs were also present to pay their last respects. The cremation was an electric process.

Kamini Kaushal leaves behind a profound cinematic legacy, having begun her career in 1946 with the film “Neecha Nagar.” This debut quickly brought her international acclaim.

“Neecha Nagar” premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival on September 29, 1946. It notably became the first Indian film to win the prestigious Golden Palm award. Kaushal achieved significant stardom by the age of 20.

Her extensive filmography includes classics such as “Shaheed” (1948), “Nadiya Ke Par” (1948), and “Aag” (1948). She also appeared in “Ziddi” (1948), “Shabnam” (1949), and “Aarzoo” (1950). For her role in “Biraj Bahu” (1954), she received the Filmfare Award for Best Film Actress.

In the latter part of her career, she was recognized for portraying maternal roles, including Manoj Kumar’s on-screen mother. She also appeared as Shahid Kapoor’s grandmother in “Kabir Singh” and Shah Rukh Khan’s grandmother in “Chennai Express.” One of her final roles was in Aamir Khan’s film “Laal Singh Chaddha.”
